#OMNIPAGE PRO X MACINTOSH FOR MAC#
I hope that OmniPage Pro for Mac has a similar plugin for Pages. Has anyone used OmniPage Pro on a Mac? The OmniPage feature I liked on my Windows 7 box was the MS Word integration plugin. The program includes a full copy of OmniPage Pro X optical character recognition software from Nuance Communications, which can scan paper directly into. It turns out I could buy OmniPage Pro X for about $45 on Amazon. The OmniPage DVD did not come with a Mac version, and a call to Nuance Support informed me that this version of OmniPage doesn't run on the Mac. Well, I got the scanner up and running in no time (excellent job, Canon, thanks!), but OmniPage turned out to be more of a headache. But lately I've decided to eliminate the Windows 7 system if possible, so I needed to move scanning and OCR over to my Mac. For a while now, I've used a Windows 7 system with a Canon scanner and Nuance Omni for OCR. Okay, it's only US$10, maybe I'll try it anyhow. I wanted to get feedback from others before I upgraded to the paid version. Omnipage is an optical character recognition (scanned image) application that can export to a number of document formats. Nuance makes it hard to fish this out, but Mac's with newer OS are not yet supported.

I was looking for a version of OmniPage standard or Pro edition to run on a Macbook Pro with Mac OS 10.5. Has anyone tried Tessa? The free version does OCR okay, but functionality is really handicapped. 'ScanSoft OmniPage Pro X for Macintosh - Mac' as of November 2009.
